Space related sets were popular issues with the Franklin Mint, since at the time most of these sets were issued, men had only recently set foot on the moon and space exploration was a “hot topic”. This is a later set – 1980’s I believe – and is very similar to the Medallic Register of America in Space set. This set focused on the missions themselves, rather than astronauts or space vehicles. These sets are much nicer looking than the popular America in Space, one of the earliest sets.
